FORBES ENTERPRISE AWARDS ARE NOW OPEN FOR ENTRIES

NEW YORK, NY (March 23, 2006) - The Forbes Enterprise Awards, a new effort to recognize excellence in America’s smaller businesses, are now open for entries. Sponsored by Verizon, the awards will be presented at a ceremony to be held on February 5, 2007, at Lincoln Center in New York City.

The Forbes Enterprise Awards, which will showcase noteworthy achievements and business practices, are open to all businesses regardless of size or revenue in the New York metropolitan area, New Jersey, and Philadelphia. Entrants will compete in 25 business categories, ranging from restaurants to legal practices to realtors, and each category will also be divided into two to accommodate two size levels in each business area.

The awards are intended to recognize innovative thinking in the management of successful small enterprises. Entries will be judged based on small-business management of issues such as marketing, customer service and retention, community service, new product development and employee relations. The awards are also intended to benefit other businesses by sharing the innovative ideas developed by the award-winners.Information about categories and criteria, and entry forms, are available at www.forbesawards.com.

Christopher Forbes, vice chairman of Forbes, Inc. said, “Forbes has always been a leading authority in reporting on business. Innovative entrepreneurs are the lifeblood of the American economy. The Forbes Enterprise Awards are an appropriate recognition of their invaluable contribution.”

The Forbes Enterprise Awards will be produced by Television USA, which has appointed Judith H. Dobrzynski, formerly Managing Editor of CNBC, to chair an independent awards committee of leading business and professional authorities.

According to Peter O. Price, Television USA’s chairman, “Small businesses deserve recognition. Many awards are so broad that smaller businesses never have a chance of competing, yet these are the same businesses who demonstrate the most unique methods and new products and services without a nationally recognizable awards program. The Forbes Enterprise Awards are designed to allow these businesses to compete against one another on a regional level with exposure they deserve.”

Ms. Dobrzynski, a veteran business journalist who is currently an adjunct professor at Columbia Graduate School of Journalism, said: “Recognizing the achievements of smaller businesses will encourage the spread of their winning ways – perhaps inspiring other small businesses to reach higher.”

Bob Ingalls, president of Verizon's Retail Markets Group, sponsor of the awards activity, said, “Verizon recognizes the value of small businesses in our local and global economies. At Verizon we understand the challenges faced by small-business owners, so we continually roll out new products and services that help them better compete in the market. We are proud to sponsor the Forbes Enterprise Awards.”
