(BPRW) Morris Brown College Welcomes Reverend Al Sharpton and the National Action Network’s “NOT THIS TIME” Voter Education and “Get Out the Vote”
Rally Tuesday, October 14th – 10:00 a.m.
“We want to pack the campus with students and community folks to bring the city to a level of excitement about this November 4th election not seen since Atlantans elected Maynard Jackson as its first Black Mayor,” said Dr. Stanley Pritchett, Acting President of Morris Brown College. “Reverend Sharpton and the National Action Network honor us, and all of the students in the Atlanta University Center, by coming to our community with this very important and critical rally for voter education. Coincidently, this rally ushers in our college homecoming starting on October 16th,” he added.
Reverend Sharpton and “NOT THIS TIME” will hold a student rally to conduct voter education. Among those scheduled to be present are Reverend Charles Steele, President of SCLC; Joe Beasley, Southeast Regional Director of Rainbow PUSH; Leslie Miller Taylor, Clayton County Solicitor General; Henry “Hank” Johnson, U. S. Congressman; and other elected officials, members of the community, civil rights groups and religious leaders.
The National Action Network’s NOT THIS TIME voter education campaign is a non-partisan effort designed to eliminate voter fraud and ensure that every vote counts. A series of bus tours is being conducted through swing states such as North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, Missouri, Florida, Georgia and more. And now that the voter registration period has ended, the final phase of this effort will be to turn out the vote and protect voter participation – particularly in the swing states that have early voting components.
