( BPRW) Victoria’s Secret PINK adds Historically Black Colleges and Universities
“I am glad to be here at FAMU to give you a sneak peek at the line.” FAMU student models wore PINK branded shirts, hoodies and sweats with the name and logo of one of the HBCUs.
Schools partnered with the Collegiate Collection receive royalties from the merchandise and are provided with campus representative internship opportunities for three students. “This partnership enhances the university and its students,” said James H. Ammons, president of FAMU.
“The university gains royalties to be used for student life enhancements and students are able to gain work experience with the company.” PINK is a $1 billion franchise targeted to young women. It was launched by Victoria’s Secret in 2004. In June 2008, VS PINK partnered with The Collegiate Licensing Company, an IMG company, to co-brand the merchandise for the Collegiate Collection.
The HBCU PINK merchandise will be available for purchase in stores late November and online mid-December. Dent said the PINK tour is making plans to visit the other four HBCUs during the spring or fall 2009 semesters.
