On October 2, PRodigy, a student-run public relations firm, teamed up with the queen of PINK to bring the new PINK collegiate line to Florida A&M University at FAMU Park. With the majority of the buzz generated around the new products, PRodigy held the “Bring Your Sweats Drive.”
All of the gently used clothing donated was given to Mothers in Crisis, a nonprofit organization that helps women in recovery from alcohol and other drug addiction.
Nicolette Daniel, events coordinator of the PRodigy leadership team, was impressed with the number of donations. “A lot of people came out and donated items for a good cause,” Daniel said.
Students who contributed to the clothing drive were given discounts on apparel from the Victoria’s Secret pop-up store. For each article of clothing donated, students received five dollars off, and could earn a maximum of $15 in discounts.
Stacey Trader, a sophomore general studies student from Jacksonville, was thrilled that she could donate her clothing and receive a discount. “I’m just so excited about this donation drive and the new PINK line that is coming to FAMU,” Trader said. “It’s wonderful to receive a discount for your purchase, but it is even better knowing that you are helping someone that really needs it.”
