( BPRW)Fourth Wal-Mart in Tallahassee Soon to be in Service

(BLACK PR WIRE) ( January 20, 2009) The new Wal-Mart in Tallahassee intends to be the number one Wal-Mart in town and in the district, said Earnestine Webb, the assistant manager of the new branch on Lagniappe Way. The Wal-Mart on Lagniappe Way is the fourth Wal-Mart built in Tallahassee.

Webb, the former assistant manager of the Tennessee Street Wal-Mart, said, "We have very high standards at this Wal-Mart and we anticipate the best." The new Wal-Mart, located on Mahan near Interstate 10, will open May 7 at 8 a.m.

"We're far enough not to affect the customers of other Wal-Marts," said Greg Coggins, store manager of the Lagniappe Way Wal-Mart. "However, other Wal-Marts may lose some customers because of the convenience to customers on this side of town. In addition, we plan to gain new customers as well."

Tallahassee citizens in the Mahan area are excited about Wal-Mart's new opening.
"I can't wait until the new Wal-Mart opens up," said Jacqueline Hill, 33, a Tallahassee resident. "It will be very convenient for me. I know it will stay nice and clean and filled with new items and a variety of items."

In addition, some residents also believe this Wal-Mart is not like any other Wal-Mart. "I didn't know Wal-Mart was going to be there with my other favorite stores," said Martha DeWitt, a homeowner near I-10 and a Tallahassee citizen. "Most Wal-Marts aren't near other stores and this will be an advantage to shoppers."

Coggins said the new Wal-Mart is designed in a modern way to benefit customers and make shopping easier for them. Unlike other Wal-Marts, the Lagniappe Way location has three main entrances instead of two.

“Past Wal-Mart stores were designed for a retail environment that benefited employees,” Coggins said. “Now the newer stores are more modern in design with thought of customers in mind, so shopping experiences will be much better for consumers.”

Coggins said the store counters and signage are lowered so customers can see them.
“We are preparing to make the store more accessible by colorizing and stylizing merchandise,” he said. “For example, the pharmacy is directly in the front on the left entrance instead of being located further in the store. We studied that people don’t want to walk far when they’re sick, they want to get in and out.”

Coggins said customers could expect the store to keep up with the latest fashion trends as well as keep items in stock with new merchandise coming in daily. “We are going to make sure we stay ahead of the game,” he said. “Customers are looking for new items and plenty of merchandise being in stock, and we intend on doing that.”

In addition, staff said Wal-Mart will provide good quality items for low prices. “We anticipate high sales because of our quality items that are fairly cheap in this time of the economy,” Webb said.

Webb added that the store’s employees will also be something to look forward to. “I think this Wal-Mart will stand out because of its very welcoming environment,” she said.
“We plan to keep the store grand opening-ready the whole time. Our staff of 450 employees consists of great people, and people make a difference.”

This store will be open 24 hours and will begin accepting customers May 7.
