(BPRW) Farmers Insurance Tees Up Historical Golf Documentary
Uneven Fairways to premier on Golf Channel
Farmers Insurance has a long standing tradition of supporting educational programs, said Faye W. McClure, Farmers Vice President of Strategic Marketing. As we celebrate Black History Month, Farmers is proud to present Uneven Fairways, an important story of brave men and their outstanding accomplishments. Farmers Insurance plans to host screenings of Uneven Fairways, at schools across the country.
Uneven Fairways will be one of the most compelling programs we will air in 2009, and we are proud that Farmers Insurance will help us tell these inspiring stories of golfers who overcame great odds just to create a tour where they could compete, said GOLF CHANNEL President Page Thompson.
Produced in partnership with Moxie Pictures, Uneven Fairways depicts the stories of several of golf's trailblazers including: John Shippen who is recognized as the first African-American professional golfer, Charlie Sifford, the first African-American member of the PGA in 1962, and Bill Spiller who was instrumental in the PGA overturning the "Caucasian Only" clause in 1961.
