(BLACK PR WIRE) Miami, FL – March 8, 2010 – Miami hometown favorite Andy Garcia brings his latest film, the family drama Anchor Bay’s City Island from Oscar-winning director and screenwriter Raymond De Felitta, to the historic Gusman Center for the Performing Arts on Fri., March 12 at 7:00 p.m. as part of the 27th Annual Miami International Film Festival, which is presented and produced by Miami Dade College.

Born in Havana, Garcia’s family left Cuba and settled in Miami when he was 5 years old. He attended both Miami Dade College and Florida International University, where he studied acting before launching his celebrated acting career. He earned a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination in 1991 for The Godfather: Part III and multiple Emmy nominations in 2001 for the HBO Films drama For Love or Country: The Arturo Sandoval Story. A longtime friend and supporter of the Miami International Film Festival, Garcia has screened several of his films at the festival in recent years: Cachao: Uno Más (MIFF 2009), The Lost City (MIFF 2006) and Modigliani (MIFF 2005).
