U.S. SECURITY FIRMS RECRUITING AFRICAN SOLIDERS TO WORK IN IRAQ AND AFGANISTAN
The Africans sought are typically recruited and paid wages considered to be below minimum wage by U.S. standards. However, in countries like Namibia, the exchange rate, which is near 7 to 1, makes for a great deal of money for the would be “hired-guns”, despite the clearly dangerous risks involved.
Namibia, formerly under South African rule, fought for its freedom for well over 20 years. As a result, there are many former African soldiers still living and able to fight, particularly those that are over 25 years of age. Recently, U.S. Security Firm Contractors were deported from Namibia by the now African ruled Namibian government. The Namibian government deported U.S. Security Firm Contractors for attempting to hire what the government considered “mercenary” work, which, without proper authorization, is deemed illegal.
Namibia is an African nation located in the South West region of Africa. South Africa once controlled Namibia, with an “Apartheid” like governmental system. Namibia didn’t gain independence from South Africa until 1990, which was the same year Nelson Mandela, former President of South Africa, and the First Black President of South Africa, was freed from prison, after serving 27 years for fighting against the Apartheid ruled government. South Africa is also a country where thousands of Africans have been recruited by U.S. Security Firm Contractors.
