(BPRW) THE GERALD A. WILLIAMS ESQ. LEGACY FOUNDATION 2ND ANNUAL CHARITY OPEN SET

"" Golf Tournament is set for October 19th at The President Country Club in West Palm Beach ""

(BLACK PR WIRE) – WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — The Gerald A. Williams Legacy Foundation Charity Open will take place on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at The President Country Club, 2300 Presidential Way, in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Proceeds from the Charity Open will fund endowed memorial scholarships established in 2010 and 2011 to benefit Florida students, and honor the late Gerald Williams’ commitment to education, law and the community. Williams’ life-long work spanned more than 30 years in the areas of labor and employment law and public education, serving as counsel to numerous school boards. His advocacy for public education and justice inspired many teachers and students, and helped to empower men and women throughout Florida. In honor of distinguished leadership and contributions to the legal profession, government and education, in 2012 Mr. Williams became the first African American inducted into the University of Florida Levin College of Law Heritage of Leadership Recognition Society.

“We are excited about this second annual Charity Open,” says Carolyn L. Williams, chairperson and founder of the Foundation. “The 2012 tournament was in large part the vision of Gerald’s friends and colleagues, who graciously signed on as host committee members, and devoted time and resources to help the Foundation host a successful first event. The Charity Open netted $20,000 that went to the endowed memorial scholarships for Florida high school and college students.”

“The feedback we received from sponsors, golfers and many others paved the way for the committee’s vision to grow,” says Attorney Yolanda Cash-Jackson, 2012 Committee Co-Chair. “We are confident the 2013 Charity Open will be another successful event that serves to further the Foundation’s vision of building positive legacies for future generations.”

Registration for The Gerald A. Williams Legacy Foundation Charity Open is $150 per person and $500 for a foursome. Sponsorships at various levels are available. The Foundation and event Host Committee invite all citizens who support distinguished student leadership, service and academic achievement to join them for a day of golf, recognition and fun.
