(BPRW) Tom Joyner Foundation Joins Efforts with the State of the Florida HBCU Panel Discussion

(BLACK PR WIRE) – Orlando, FL – Thomas Joyner Jr., President of the Tom Joyner Foundation, has accepted an invitation to serve as a guest panelist for the State of the Florida HBCU Panel Discussion.

The panel will take place at 10:30 a.m. at the Rosen Centre in Orlando on Sunday, November 23rd at 10:30 a.m., during the weekend of the Florida Blue Florida Classic 2014. The Tom Joyner Foundation is a 17-year-old 501(c)3 non-profit foundation that helps raise money for Historically Black Colleges and Universities.

The summit is a public forum that brings together the presidents of Florida’s four HBCUs to discuss retention and graduation. Along with Joyner, representatives from Florida A&M University, Bethune-Cookman University, Florida Memorial University, and Edward Waters College will be participating.

For decades, Joyner’s team has supported HBCUs and improved the lives of students who attend them. The Foundation is named after Tom Joyner, the nationally syndicated radio personality who is co-founder of REACH Media Inc., the Dallas-based multi-media firm that is the parent company of the Tom Joyner Morning Show, the Tom Joyner Family Reunion, and BlackAmericaWeb.com. The Foundation has raised more than $65 million to help more than 29,000 students stay in school at HBCUs.

By collaborating with the State of the Florida HBCU Panel Discussion, Thomas Joyner Jr. and the Foundation seek to advance minority student success rates at HBCUs.
