(BPRW) Hampton University Museum hosts Kwanzaa and Holiday Marketplace

(Black PR Wire) HAMPTON, Va.  — Friday and Saturday, Dec. 1-2, the Hampton University Museum hosts its 24th Annual Holiday and Kwanzaa Marketplace. Come and celebrate, shop and enjoy.  The weekend will be filled events for the whole family.

The Marketplace kicks off at 10 a.m. Dec. 1 in the Museum shop with the purchase of holiday and Kwanzaa gifts from the Museum Shop, which specializes in African and African-American art gifts. Gifts include hand crafted items such as jewelry, soaps candles and art.

The event will continue with an Evening Celebration at 5:30 p.m. which will include special holiday music by Hampton City School choirs from Armstrong School for the Arts and Bethel High School; and special holiday activities, including children’s book readings and a Meagan Adams demonstration on making a ginger bread house.

Admission to the event is free. Guests are encouraged to donate travel size toiletries (i.e. deodorant, perfumes, soap) or gently used clothes for women that will be given to Transitions Family Violence Services. 

Saturday, Dec.2 1-4 p.m., the Holiday and Kwanzaa Jazz Brunch and Marketplace will be the featured event. Admission is $20 for adults and children 10 under are $10. Visitors are encouraged to view the permanent galleries, listen to jazz with The Jason Jenkins Trio of Richmond, Va. This event is co-hosted by the Hampton University Museum student membership group The Biggers Circle. Heavy hors d’oeurves, desserts, and light beverages will be served. Purchase Holiday and Kwanzaa gifts from the Museum Shop and select vendors.
