(Black PR Wire) Healthy is happening at Shorty’s Bar-B-Q restaurant! Recognizing its commitment to providing healthy and nutritious meals, Make Healthy Happen Miami has partnered with Shorty’s Bar-B-Q for its #HealthyHappensHere social media challenge.

“Shorty’s Bar-B-Q restaurant offers healthy and delicious items that meet national nutritional guidelines,” says Leyanee Perez, R.D.,L.D.N., Founder and CEO of the American Healthy Weight Alliance and member of the Consortium for a Healthier Miami-Dade. “We are so excited to bring them onboard for the Healthy Happens Here challenge and initiative.”

How to Participate in the Challenge:

Step 1: Snap a photo or film a short video clip of you (or your colleague) doing some activity to make healthy happen. (For example, this can include working out at the gym and/or park, home cooking a healthy meal and even walking up the stairwell at work – be unique and creative, and make sure your image has a title and is something that stands out.)

Step 2: Share your photo/clip on Facebook using the hashtag #HealthyHappensHere and be sure tag the ‘Make Healthy Happen’ Facebook page.

The entry period for the Healthy Happens Here Challenge is now thru May 31, 2017. The grand prize includes a gift card to Shorty’s Bar-B-Q restaurant.

Shorty’s Bar-B-Q has various locations throughout South Florida. Their healthy menu items include Shorty’s Chicken Sandwich, Healthy Chicken Breast Plate, Skinny Spare Ribs, Lean Half Rack of Baby Backs and the Pork Steak Meal. These meals were analyzed and modified by Registered/Licensed Dietitians and are 500 calories or less and lower in sodium.

Make Healthy Happen Miami is an initiative of the Consortium for a Healthier Miami-Dade and the Partnerships to Improve Community Health (PICH). PICH focus areas include tobacco and smoke-free environments, environments with healthy foods or beverages, physical activity opportunities, and prevention of chronic diseases through clinical and community linkages. Make Healthy Happen Miami is a message from the Florida Department of Health in Miami-Dade County, and is made possible with funding from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
