(BPRW) Quality Education Network for Minorities to Host a Teacher Scholarship Program Information and Proposal Development Workshop

Workshops in June; Registration Deadline Extended thru Thursday, May 17, 2017

(Black PR Wire) -- The Quality Education for Minorities (QEM) Network will conduct an information and proposal development workshop on the National Science Foundation (NSF)’s Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship Program (NSF Noyce) for minority-serving institutions. The two-day workshop, sponsored by the NSF, will take place on Friday-Saturday, June 9-10, 2017, at the Hilton Baltimore BWI Airport Hotel located at 1739 West Nursery Road, Linthicum Heights, MD.

NSF Noyce encourages talented science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) majors and professionals to become K-12 mathematics and science teachers. The program provides funds to institutions of higher education to support scholarships, stipends, and academic programs for undergraduate STEM majors and post-baccalaureate students holding STEM degrees who commit to teaching in high-need K-12 school districts.

The program offers four tracks: Track 1: The Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarships and Stipends Track, Track 2: The NSF Teaching Fellowships Track, Track 3: The NSF Master Teaching Fellowships Track, and Track 4: Noyce Research Track. In addition, Capacity Building proposals are accepted to develop a future Track 1, 2, or 3 proposal.

If this workshop is of interest to you and you did not attend a previous QEM Noyce workshop, we invite you to use the attached form to register a two-person faculty team consisting of a STEM faculty member and a teacher education faculty member as potential participants in the Baltimore workshop. QEM’s award from NSF will support travel, lodging, and other associated expenses for the participation of 15 two-person teams from minority-serving institutions with teacher education programs that have national, regional, or state accreditation. Travel reimbursements will be made in accordance with the attached QEM Travel Policy

Prior to the workshop, each institutional team will be required to submit a one-page project summary for a proposal based on the attached FY 2017 Noyce Program Solicitation (also available at Noyce Solicitation).
