(BPRW) Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib Endorses Roslyn Ogburn for State House in 9th District

(Black PR Wire) DETROIT, MI - Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib has officially announced her endorsement of Roslyn Ogburn as she seeks to become the next State Representative from Michigan’s 9th District.

"Roslyn Ogburn has always fought for community, especially on housing and environmental justice issues. You do not have to question where Roslyn stands because it is always with the people and rooted in community. I've known Roslyn for years throughout her work on advocating for working families and fighting tax foreclosures; prohibiting water shutoffs and ensuring access to clean, safe drinking water, as well as fighting for access to free resources for residents to combat COVID-19” said Tlaib. “The 9th District deserves a fighter who will never forget the folks who sent them to Lansing and Roslyn is that person. I look forward to having a true partner for justice and service on the state level in House District 9."

Ogburn, a single mom of 5, 4th generation Detroiter, and a former housing organizer for Detroit Action, enters the race for the 9th District with over 2,600 grassroots donors and supporters from across the district and the country. Her platform includes advocating for working families and fighting tax foreclosures; prohibiting water shutoffs and ensuring access to clean, safe drinking water; and fighting for free COVID-19 personal protection equipment, treatment, and vaccines.

“I’m honored to have the endorsement of my Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib. We’ve been fighting together on the front lines of crisis after crisis in Detroit for years and I’m excited to work with her when I’m in Lansing”, said Ogburn.

Today’s endorsement adds to a growing list of organizations and individuals who have come out in support of Ogburn’s campaign including U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders, Abdul El-Sayed, Southpaw, the 13th Congressional District Democratic Party Organization, the Progressive Caucus of the Michigan Democratic Party and others.
