(BPRW) NABSE NORTHEAST REGIONAL CONFERENCE TOWNHALL THURSDAY APRIL 30TH, 2026

(Black PR Wire) White Plains, New York — The NABSE Northeast Region Conference 2026, Elevating Excellence: Leadership, Literacy, Learning, is the premier opportunity for educators and community partners to convene and make a lasting impact on educational equity for Black students.

This year’s conference features an opening “State of Black Education Townhall” on April 30, offering a crucial conversation about the current landscape and educational outcomes for Black students. The Moderator is Adrian Straker, MS Ed. NABSE, Northeast Regional Representative, and NYC Education Equity Action Plan Coalition (EEAPC) - NYCPS Black Studies Curriculum Core Team Member.

The NABSE Northeast Regional Conference, begins on Thursday evening, with the “State of Black Education Townhall” featured panelists are key regional educational leaders,  the Chancellor of the  State University of New York - (SUNY), Dr. John B. King, the President of SUNY Westchester Community College, Dr. Belinda Miles, the Assistant Commissioner with NYS Department of Education, Dr. Anael Alston, the Superintendent of Hartford Public Schools, Dr. Andraé Townsel, and the CEO of Bailey Education Group, Tanisha Washington.

The Black Educational Policy Forum is a policy-focused session that addresses educational equity, reform, and actionable strategies across and within states. (Lead participants are NABSE NER State Presidents with an address by Former NYC Council Speaker Adrienne E. Adams). Friday, May 1

The Black Leaders in Education Forum (BLE Forum) is where key leaders and organizations will discuss major issues affecting education and literacy for African American students. Saturday May2

Participants will also benefit from 16 professional development workshops covering topics such as literacy, special education, leadership development, college readiness/college environment, artificial intelligence in education, and career and technical education.
