(BPRW) NBCSL President Calvin Smyre (GA) to Participate in White House Meeting with President Barack Obama

(BLACK PR WIRE) WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Georgia State Representative Calvin Smyre, President of the National Black Caucus of State Legislators (NBCSL), will be among leaders of the National Policy Alliance (NPA) for a meeting with U.S. President Barack Obama.

On Tuesday, December 14, 2010, NBCSL President Smyre will meet with President Obama in the Roosevelt Room of the White House to deliver remarks as part of NPA’s collective agenda. The meeting will benefit millions of constituents of the respective NPA member organizations. The ultimate goal of the meeting is to work collectively on policy solutions that will impact the communities represented by NPA in fundamental and practical measures and outcomes. Also, the meeting with the President will broaden the conversation in Washington beyond the beltway providing a voice and perspective of state and local elected officials with Administration officials, essential to the expansion of federal policymaking dialogue. The meeting is the outcome of direct discussions and meetings between NPA leadership and the White House coordinated through the White House Office of Public Engagement over the past two years.

President Smyre and other NPA principals will have press availability on the North Lawn of the White House following the meeting with President Obama.
