(BPRW) The City of Miami Gardens To Host 5th Annual Science and Engineering Fair

-Awards Ceremony Set for December 8h at the Betty T. Ferguson Center-

(Black PR Wire) Judges will soon be gathering to tally the final scores to determine the winners of the City of Miami Gardens’ 5th Annual Science and Engineering Fair. Over 100 students are expected to submit their science projects. The top winners will be announced on Tuesday, December 8th at the Awards Ceremony. The ceremony takes place from 6:30 p.m. – 8 p.m. at the Betty T. Ferguson Recreational Complex, 3000 NW 199th Street, Miami Gardens, FL. The event is free and open to the public.

The event is the brain trust of Councilman David Williams Jr., and has become one of the beacon projects in the community. The 2015 event is presented by the City of Miami Gardens, with generous support from St. Thomas University and the Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science. Other noted sponsors include Jessie Trice Community Health Center, Inc., UAIC, Lehman Auto World, Amerigroup Real Solutions, FP&L, Audubon of Florida, Live Healthy Miami Gardens, North Dade Youth and Family Coalition, Early Learning Coalition, The Resource Room, The Oscar Thomas Foundation, and others. Dr. Nanci Thomas will serve as the event’s emcee and mistress of ceremonies.

“There will be a host of new awards and a number of cash prizes provided to the students this year,” states Councilman Williams. In addition, we have moved the venue to a larger space within the Betty T. Ferguson complex to accommodate the large support from the parents and residents of the City.”

Students from various schools throughout Miami Gardens are putting the final touches on their winning projects. Participants from the Innovative Beginnings in Science (IBIS) Programs include: Golden Glades Elementary School, Crestview Elementary School, Scott Lake Elementary School, Rainbow Park Elementary School, Parkview Elementary School, Carol City Elementary School, Hibiscus Elementary School, Barbara Hawkins Elementary School, and Carol City Senior High School. Other school involved include: Bunche Park Elementary School, Norland Elementary School, North Dade Center for Modern Language, Norwood Elementary School, Parkway Elementary School, and Robert Ingram Elementary School.
