(BPRW) The Power of Friends

(BLACK PR WIRE) (FLMU-MIAMI) –– In our lifetime, we come across people we choose as friends forever. However, have we ever considered the influence that our friends have on us? The friends that we choose will influence our thoughts, actions and feelings. They help determine the kind of success or failure we gain in life. Their words will either build us or break us. The kind of conversations that we have with them will either build faith or fear in our lives.

The Bible says in Proverbs 13:20, “He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.” The meaning of this scripture is that we can pick up the nature of the people around us. If we want to have a dream – fulfilling life, then it is pertinent that we find mentors and clever friends who will guide and correct all the mistakes we make. If we want a successful career, we should look for people who have accomplished much in that area, learn from them, ask those questions as to how they made it and we will also make it to their level. If we want to barely make it in life, then the only option we have is to walk with slackers.

American motivational speaker Zig Ziglar said, “If you want to fly in the skies with eagles, you must stop scratching the ground with turkeys.” The eagle is referred to as the king of the birds. Eagles have focus, good vision, determination, patience and speed. The characteristics they possess make them exceptional compared to other birds. They always finish their nests, they can turn an image into reality, they are alive and full of energy and they allow nothing to distract them. These are qualities of exceptional people. I believe we don’t want to be scratching the ground for worms. So, let us make an effort to make friends who excel in their fields. Accept constructive criticism from them. This will make us better, so we can also fly in the skies with them.

The Bible again states in 1 Corinthians 15:33, “Don’t be deceived: ‘Evil companionships corrupt good morals.’” I personally believe that our association determines our destination. Do you know that in the company of bad friends, we could be held responsible for crimes they commit? Also, people can look at our friends and determine our character. These are just few issues to consider. I have always made a policy to take friends who will help me accomplish my goals. Friends who care enough to tell me whenever I go wrong, friends who will add value to my life and friends who will support me any time I need help.

Finally, now that we know the impact that friends have on our lives, let’s watch the kind of people that we follow. We all know the phrase “the blind leading the blind.” In the same way, let’s do our best not to follow someone who doesn’t know where he is going. As our friends impact your life positively, make sure to give in return your love and support. Make good choices about your friends and you will make good choices about your future.
