(BPRW) INROADS NATIONAL DAY OF SERVICE TO COMMEMORATE 40 YEAR ANNIVERSARY

Over 10,000 Volunteer Hours Committed for a Wide Array of Community Projects

(BLACK PR WIRE) St. Louis, MO, July 24, 2010—INROADS, the nation’s largest non-profit source of salaried corporate internships for minority students, will impact more than 40 communities throughout the country during its 2010 National Day of Service on July 24th. This year’s National Day of Service will also commemorate INROADS 40-year anniversary of having placed students in over 125,000 corporate internships

INROADS Day of Service represents over 10, 000 volunteer hours committed to a variety projects from building homes with Habitat of Humanity, working in food banks to feed the homeless, picking up trash and debris in some of the country’s most noted cities along with working with many young Americans in several educational programs.

As part of the founding mission when INROADS was established in 1970 by Frank C. Carr who was inspired by the words of Dr. Martin Luther King, the development of the required business skills and competencies necessary to be successful in corporate America was of a great importance. But also just as important, their training included many lessons in the great value of becoming leaders within their own communities through community involvement.

“We are extremely honored and excited to offer the many communities we served the unparallel talent of over 2,000 enthused INROADS Interns who are being trained to be our future leaders not only in business, but our communities as well,” states Javona Braxton, INROADS Director of Training who is responsible for the coordination and management of INROADS National Day of Service. “Volunteerism is the backbone of America and we at INROADS strongly advocate that effective leaders in the community make great leaders in the business environment.”

Each event will also commemorate the 40th anniversary celebration, which was officially held on June 22nd, but will continue until January 1, 2011, where the organization will continue to showcase its vast impact of advocating and promoting enhanced diversity in the hallow halls of many major corporations around here in the U.S. and the globe.
