"" Event Honors Authors & Poets in the City ""
(BLACK PR WIRE) – The ability to depict imagery and express your feelings through poetry is pure artistry. In celebration of Black History Month, the City of Miami Gardens will host an Art Exhibit & Cocktail Reception to showcase this artistry which many of its very own residents contain. The event takes place on Thursday, February 27, 2014 from 6 – 9 p.m. in the Betty T. Ferguson Recreational Complex Auditorium, 3000 NW 199th Street, in Miami Gardens, FL. There will also be an Art and Photography Contest, open to all artists and photographers.
“This is a great way to celebrate Black History Month – by showcasing and honoring those who are making history in the field of arts,” said Councilwoman Lillie Q. Odom, Seat 1. “We invite the community to come out and join us for this unprecedented event.”
In addition to showcasing the art of artists, the City of Miami Gardens will also honor authors and poets. In fact, the City currently has an open call to authors and poets to participate in the event. The only requirement is that authors and poets must be a resident of the City of Miami Gardens. Selected artists will perform during the event. To register, visit www.miamigardensmyblackhistory.com.
