(BPRW) “Be Careful What You Ask For” by Lisa Collins debuts during the Fertile Ground Virtual New Work Play Festival

A poignant film about injustice premieres on Feb. 1 at 9 p.m.

(Black PR Wire) Fertile Ground New Work, PDX will hold their 12th Annual Festival from Thursday, January 28 thru Sunday, February 7. This year’s event takes place virtually and is set to debut the film, “Be Careful What You Ask For,” on Monday, February 1 at 9 p.m. The film was written by Lisa Collins, and directed by Jennifer Lanier.

“Be Careful What You Ask For” is a powerful filmed play that features a Caucasian couple having a conversation over coffee when an emotional explosion occurs about the deaths of Black people.

“I wrote this play in memory of a Black man, Jason Erik Washington, who was killed in Portland, Oregon back in 2018 by college police officers,” says Lisa Collins, who is also the winner of the Fertile Ground Network’s Grow Award for 2021.

A must-see production that will stir your mind, body, and soul, “Be Careful What You Ask For” is a solid filmed play that will keep the conversations about community and social change at the forefront, and is an honest glimpse into what humanity looks like over a cup of coffee.

The project is presented by Fertile Ground with a GROW AWARD supported by an Arts Equity & Access grant from the Regional Arts and Culture Council. Attendance to the Virtual Festival is free, streaming on Facebook and YouTube.
