(BPRW) Califa Arts Chapter Shines with Debut of Canvas and Community at Historic Wilfandel Club House

(Black PR Wire) The Califa Arts Chapter of The Society, Incorporated Supporting the Arts hosted a resounding success with its inaugural Canvas and Community: A Spring Art Affair on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at the historic Wilfandel Club House in Los Angeles. The vibrant gathering celebrated emerging youth artists, community connection, and creative excellence in a dynamic setting infused with art, music, and culture.

This unforgettable afternoon marked the first official event appearance of Deborah Beavers-Watford, the newly installed 10th National President of The Society, Incorporated. Attendees were also greeted with heartfelt words by Adai Lamar, beloved radio personality of 102.3 FM KJLH, who uplifted the crowd with her signature warmth and enthusiasm for youth empowerment and the arts.

The indoor gallery featured the powerful, visionary works of two prominent Los Angeles-based artists: Skyler Grey, the internationally acclaimed urban artist, and Kelly Vallas, a rising contemporary talent. Their exhibits were joined by curated pieces from Inner-City Arts students—young creatives who captivated guests with their originality, courage, and perspective.

The event seamlessly transitioned into the Wilfandel Club House’s garden for an afternoon of community, featuring live youth band performances, a curated DJ set, and a closing mindfulness and art session facilitated by Art Active, Inc. This flow of activities embodied the event’s spirit—bringing together artistry and wellness in an atmosphere of collective celebration.

“The energy, creativity, and heart of this event were felt in every detail—from the powerful art to the joy in the garden,” said La-Doris McClaney, Chapter Organizer and President for Califa Arts Chapter. “Canvas and Community not only honored our past but illuminated the brilliance of our youth and their boundless future.”

Rooted in its mission to enhance, expose, and promote youth in the arts, the Califa Arts Chapter used Canvas and Community to further its commitment across all artistic disciplines—literary, visual, performing, instrumental, and vocal. The Wilfandel Club House, a landmark of Black excellence, served as the perfect setting to reflect the richness of culture, legacy, and limitless creative potential.

The Califa Arts Chapter is devoted to creating platforms for youth to thrive through the arts. As part of The Society, Incorporated, we support young artists by providing opportunities for exposure, education, and empowerment—transforming creative expression into lifelong opportunity.
