(BPRW) Exodus Foundation Media Alert

Press Conference in Washington DC on January 5th

“1 of 15 Faith Leaders to Watch in 2015,” Rev. Dr. Madeline McClenney-Sadler explains her “Exodus Coalition Plan” for Clemency In Effort To Support President Obama and To Bring Mercy to The Sentences Of Non-Violent and Overcharged Federal Inmates By January 20th, 2017

MEDIA ALERT

(Black PR Wire) Exodus Foundation.org schedules a press conference at Methodist Building (100 Maryland Avenue NE) to outline Exodus Coalition Plan for the public and to call for President Obama to systematically commute the sentences of non-violent and overcharged federal inmates that meet the criteria. Tens of thousands of whom will die in prison without clemency.

What: A press conference to present and answer questions about the official “Exodus Coalition Plan” for clemency as one of several plans before the White House for consideration before President Obama leaves office.  If there is no response, or the Exodus Plan, or something bigger and bolder is not adopted by January 16, 2017 organization founder and formerly incarcerated assistant, and family members of inmates, will refuse solid food and water until noon January 20, 2017. Through digital media, the nation is being called to fast with them.  The Exodus Coalition Plan is endorsed by over 30 subject matter experts and national agencies among them: the National Council of Churches, Real Cost of Prisons Project, National Council of Incarcerated and Formerly Incarcerated Women, Attorney Barbara Arnwine, Freedom’s Chance, Healing Communities USA, and the Ecumenical Poverty Initiative and the Ecumenical Catholic Communion, Walter Ridley Group-Corrections Consulting.

Who: Rev. Dr. Madeline McClenney-Sadler, President and founder of Exodus Foundation.org; Press Conference.

Confirmed Speakers: President McClenney; Congressman Walter Fauntroy (emeritus); Attorney Aundreia Alexander, Assoc. General Secretary-National Council of Churches, Dr. Harold Trulear, Healing Communities USA, Sebastian Goodson, special assistant to the President (formerly incarcerated 25 years in federal prison); Donna Harris, mother of Tavaris Harris charged as adult wrongly sentenced; Pastor Keith Battle, Zion Church; Pastor Dennis Wiley, Covenant Baptist Church; Al-Malik Farrakhan, Cease Fire DSBS, Lennox Yearwood Hip Hop Caucus, Attorney Barbara  Arnwine, Transformative Justice Coalition;

Invited Speakers: Rep. John Conyers, MI; Rep. Bobby Scott, VA; Senator Corey Booker, NJ; Rep. G.K. Butterfield, Cathy Hughes, Radio One; Joel Segal, JAMN.  Kemba Smith, Kemba Smith Foundation; Former Federal Prosecutor Georgia Goslee.

Why: Current clemency criteria are restrictive and patently unfair requiring a 10 year wait to apply for a commutation.  The vast majority of applications are rejected, white collar and prisoners with other offenses as well as seniors and immigrants are left out. The Exodus Coalition Plan is inclusive of all offense types while protecting public safety; it can be adopted before the President leaves office.  It is scientifically validated, safer for prisoners and families, sound fiscally and socially just.

Who Should Attend: All DMV, national and international media.

When: Thursday, January 5, 2017

Time: 2 p.m.

Location: Methodist Building, 100 Maryland Avenue N.E.  Washington, DC 20002
