(BPRW) Jessie Trice Community Health System 1 of 2 Health Centers in Florida to Receive HRSA Optimizing Virtual Care (Q8V) Award

(Black PR Wire) On Monday, February 14, 2022 HRSA awarded a total of $54,564,275 in one time funding to support 29 health centers to develop, implement and evaluate innovative, evidence-based strategies that:

  • Optimize the use of virtual care to increase access and improve clinical quality for underserved communities and vulnerable populations; and
  • Can be adapted and scaled across the Health Center Program.

The Jessie Trice Community Health System (JTCHS) is committed to cultivating healthy initiatives and serving as champions of healthcare.  JTCHS continues this vision by providing access to care in-person and virtually.

“JTCHS is the recipient of nearly $2M from the HRSA Optimizing Virtual Care Award. As 1 of the 2 health centers in the state and 1 of 29 health centers in the nation, we will continue our commitment to the communities we serve as we have for the past 54 years,” said Annie Neasman, CEO of JTCHS.

Each year billions of dollars are lost due to uncoordinated health and social services for underserved populations that include those who have mental illness and/or addictions, the homeless, Medicaid high utilizers and others afflicted with adverse social determinants of health. By leveraging HRSA Optimizing Virtual Care funding, the Jessie Trice Community Health System Virtual Care Initiative for urban and special needs communities will implement an enhanced, comprehensive virtual care program with shared and interoperable service integration that includes health information, screening and intervention for social determinants of health, and care management and coordination services to promote better patient health and social outcomes.

The Jessie Trice Community Health System, Inc (JTCHS) is one of Miami-Dade County’s preeminent federally qualified community health centers, governed by a remarkably dedicated Board of Directors (51% of which are users of the medical and dental services) and a diverse, incredibly talented, committed family of providers and staff. The 1st Federally Qualified Health Center in the state and 5th in the nation, JTCHS is a Florida 501 (c) 3, not-for-profit organization that has been serving Miami-Dade County since 1967. JTCHS served its first patients from a trailer. Now, fifty-four (54) years after its founding, JTCHS owns and operates eleven (11 Comprehensive Primary Care centers, a 40 bed Women’s Residential Center for substance use, located in one (1) university and forty (40) school-based health suites.  JTCHS knows and specializes in comprehensive health, offering a myriad of services to improve the health of the community.
