(BPRW) LAW ENFORCEMENT LEADERS FROM ACROSS THE NATION WILL GATHER IN MIAMI FOR SECOND ANNUAL COMMUNITY TRUST NATIONAL SYMPOSIUM

The two-day conference takes place September 9-10 at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Miami

(Black PR Wire) Law enforcement leaders from Florida, Georgia, Texas, North Carolina and New York will converge on South Florida next week for the Second Annual Community Trust National Symposium which has the working title of Bridging the Gap: Service-Oriented Leadership For The Future.

The two-day conference takes place September 9-10 at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Miami (550 NW 42nd Avenue, Miami, FL 33126).

These law enforcement leaders – widely regarded nationally as subject experts in the their respective areas of expertise – will bring forth critical data points concerning mental health services for rank and file police officers and members of the community; discuss the well-documented opiate crisis in America; offer life-altering strategies to empower youth; discuss the controversial and thought-provoking topic of immigration in our nation; and tackle how law enforcement maintains integrity and builds trust in a fast moving, ever changing world.

“We are extremely excited about this year’s program,” said Dedication to Community (D2C) Founder & CEO M. Quentin Williams, who is also the Co-Founder of the symposium. “This year, we focused on the mental, emotional and physical health and wellness of our law enforcement brethren and the role wellness plays in building community trust. We are looking forward to two exciting days of critically important discussion that will certainly make our officers better and our respective communities safer.”

D2C experts work with government agencies and the private sector in the areas of leadership education and employ relationship-building tools and advise on critical issues in public safety and law enforcement.

During the two-day conference, symposium participants will gain actionable strategies that will enable them to strengthen communities and support rank and file police officers in communities across the country.

“I hold a firm belief that every person deserves a safe place to live, work and raise a family – and such safety can only be achieved when trust is mutual, transparency is consistent and accountability flows in both directions,” said Dr. Randy B. Nelson, symposium Co-Founder and President of 21st Century Research & Evaluations, Inc., – a position he has held since 1997.

Nelson, nationally recognized for his work in law enforcement training, previously served as Director of the Master of Science in Criminal Justice Administration Graduate Program at Bethune-Cookman University, where he was also an Associate Professor of Criminal Justice.

“At a time when public confidence in all branches of government face intense scrutiny, law enforcement must remain the steadfast pillar upon which our democracy stands,” Nelson said. “This is why we have brought together distinguished law enforcement leaders and experts from across the nation to share forward-thinking strategies that address the unique mental health needs of both law enforcement professionals and the communities they serve.”

Williams remembers how he was personally affected by several highly publicized wrongful deaths across the country that were connected to the police. Subsequently, Williams - a former FBI agent and federal prosecutor - decided in 2016 to focus his energy on elevating service to the law enforcement profession.

“We created and delivered training around the country focused on serving in the 21st century,” Williams said. “D2C’s mission is to ensure safe, positive and respectful interaction between all people, in particular between law enforcement and the communities served with the ultimate goal of living as one community.”

Williams also contends that D2C’s core mission is to ensure justice for all people.

“Our goal here is to reduce violence, heal divides and empower communities to thrive in unity and mutual respect,” Williams said. “Together, we can create a foundation for lasting impact which includes safer streets, stronger relationships and brighter futures for everyone.”
