(BPRW) NBA Hall-of-Famer Alonzo Mourning Hosts 5th Annual Charity Basketball Tournament to Raise Funds for Miami Youth

(Black PR Wire) MIAMI, – The Overtown Youth Center recently raised funds for local youth and their families during the 5th Annual Zo’s Hoop Law 3-on-3 Charity Basketball Tournament held on March 16, 2018. The event benefits the Overtown Youth Center, a nonprofit organization that seeks to inspire and empower the lives of promising youth by connecting them to positive role models, enhancing their educational experience and exposing them to life-changing opportunities.

 

Twenty-four teams comprised of 144 players from the legal field competed to earn a trophy and bragging rights as this year’s Zo’s Hoop Law Champions. The event was held at The Overtown Youth Center on March 16th with more than 200 participants in attendance and included double elimination games, kid-friendly activities, lunch and a silent auction. The Shook, Hardy & Bacon law firm team showed their talents on a different type of court and emerged as the 2019 Zo’s Hoop Law Champions.  Also joining the action were last year’s winner Darfoor Law Firm who placed second this year, and Ver Ploeg and Lumpkin who placed third.  Also in attendance were returning participants from the law firms of Eaton & Wolk PL, Shutts & Bowen LLP, and Cole Scott & Kissane to name a few.

 

Special guests included Jason Gilliam-Alexander who was MC for the day, and WPLG-10 News Anchor Calvin Hughes who hit the court with the Stroock team.
