(Black PR Wire) Orange, CA - On Monday, February 28, 2022, at 7 pm PT and 10 pm ET, The Black Film Society of Chapman University will host a free virtual Zoom Masterclass with Award-winning Writer Director, Producer, and Filmmaker Deon Taylor as part of their Black History Celebration. Black Film Society President and Founder Madison Welborn and Journalist and TV Host Tracy Anderson will moderate the in-depth conversation.

Taylor, CEO of the Hidden Empire Film Group, is the Award-winning director, writer, and producer of numerous critically acclaimed films such as The House Next Door: Meet the Blacks 2, Fatale, Black and Blue, The Intruder, Traffik, Meet the Blacks and Supremacy, to name a few. Most recently Deon Taylor released two films in the troubled Covid-19 landscape to great success. The first being in 2020 through Lionsgate— the taut thriller Fatale, starring two-time Academy Award winner Hilary Swank and Golden Globe nominee Michael Ealy. In June of 2021, he released a sequel to his cult classic comedy franchise, Meet the Blacks— Meet the Blacks 2: The House Next Door. Just like the original, he independently released The House Next Door, this time through his newly founded distribution company HEFG Releasing. In 2019, Taylor directed and produced the hit thriller, The Intruder, starring Dennis Quaid, Michael Ealy and Meagan Good, which was released by Sony's Screen Gems. A few months later in 2019, Taylor followed that up with another Screen Gems project, Black and Blue, starring Academy Award nominee, Naomie Harris, which was nominated for a 2020 AMAA Best Diaspora Narrative Feature. In 2018, Taylor directed the film Traffik, starring Omar Epps and Paula Patton. It went on to be nominated for an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Independent Motion Picture and a 2019 AMAA Best Diaspora Narrative Feature.

This is the 5th in a series of virtual Masterclasses that Chapman University's Black Film Society has offered for free to up-and-coming black filmmakers, film students, or anyone interested in the film and TV industry.
