(BPRW) The Center Selects Dorian “The Phuncle” Johnson as SBH 2025 Host

(Black PR Wire) Dorian “The PHuncle” Johnson has been named the host for the State of Black Health 2025 National Conference. As a master health coach, public health educator and health communicator, Johnson brings a wealth of knowledge, charisma, and community level connection to the event.

As The PHuncle (Public Health Uncle) and creator of The Productive Disruptive newsletter, Dorian uses storytelling, education, and humor to turn dense public health concepts into conversations that make health make sense. His work is rooted in one belief: when people understand how the system works, they’re better equipped to navigate, challenge, and change it.

Johnson’s motivations to help people connect the dots between individual choices and systemic barriers align with the goals of the State of Black Health. The conference gathers hundreds of community leaders and equity advocates from every background to address themes and find solutions for the social and economic injustices that have marginalized Black communities and led to deep health disparities.

“As The PHuncle, I strive to make health communication more relatable, understandable, and systems-aware,” said Johnson. “This conference is where we connect the dots between personal choices and systemic barriers. It’s a space to inspire and be inspired—to equip people with the tools to take action and the courage to demand justice.”

The Center for Black Health & Equity is excited to welcome Johnson to the stage and all of our speakers and attendees, September 15 – 18 at The Westin Charlotte, North Carolina. Details about the conference can be found on StateofBlackHealth.com.
