(BPRW) DANA JOHNSON RECOGNIZED AT TENTH ANNUAL GREEN ROOM AWARDS RECEPTION HOSTED BY VESTIGE STRATEGIES

The Award Was Presented by the Environmental Defense Fund for Work As An Environmental Justice Champion

(Black PR Wire) Washington, D.C. — Demonstrating national leadership in the environmental justice movement through advocacy and policy-setting,  Dana Johnson, Senior Director of Strategy and Federal Policy at WE ACT for Environmental Justice,  received The Green Room Award during the Vestige Strategies 10th Annual Green Room Reception at Congressional Black Caucus Foundation Week.

This event recognizes Champions of Color who push for environmental justice within Congress and the Administration. Johnson, who was nominated by and received the award from the Environmental Defense Fund, has been a leading voice in shaping a national environmental justice agenda and narrative in the areas of clean air, healthy homes, water quality, energy democracy and transportation standards since joining WE ACT in 2019.

“Our organization was founded more than 30 years ago to address the environmental racism that stifles and burdens communities of color and areas of low income across this nation. I am honored to be recognized for my commitment to ensure that people who have suffered the most are at the forefront of combating climate change and environmental injustices,” said Johnson.

Every generation wants to be healthy, happy and safe. Unfortunately, people living in communities of color and low-income neighborhoods have not been able to fully realize this goal because of a history of harmful policy decisions that make pollution, economic instability and climate change the norm. They have paid an unconscionable price due to a variety of factors. Johnson has made it clear that this is unacceptable and leads the charge to change the narrative and create policy to protect communities of color and low-income neighborhoods.
